It works on Android and iOS in 16 regional languages, functions offline in the field, and transmits data directly from field to server, eliminating the printing, movement and manual scanning of paper schedules that consumed years after Census 2011. Access is restricted to functionaries registered on the CMMS portal. During household visits the enumerator either canvasses the houselisting questions directly in the app or pulls up a household's self-enumeration record via its SE ID, verifies it, adds enumerator-recorded fields (building number, census house number, use of census house) and uploads the finalised record.
