Self-Enumeration ID (SE ID) UPSC relevant
The Self-Enumeration ID is the unique 11-digit identifier, prefixed with 'H', generated when a household successfully submits its details on the Census 2027 Self-Enumeration Portal.
It is displayed on screen and sent by SMS (and email, if provided). The SE ID is the bridge between the online submission and the field operation: when the enumerator visits during the houselisting round, the household shares the SE ID, the enumerator retrieves the record in the HLO app, verifies it, adds fields like building number and census house number, corrects any errors the household points out, and uploads the final record.
Without a correct SE ID the enumerator simply re-canvasses all questions. A lost SE ID can be retrieved on the portal with the registered mobile number or with the enumerator's help.
